In 1981, Olympic National Park was named a World Heritage Site in recognition of its exceptional natural beauty and outstanding diversity of plants and animals. The Park is home to mountains, glaciers, alpine meadows, rugged coast and old-growth forests, including its rare temperate rainforest.
